Biglietto di sola andata / One Way Ticket

C’è chi compra biglietti fortunati
per raggiungere la Luna
e tornare più innamorato.
Io, rannicchiata sotto la tenda,
sono una matassa di pensieri cupi
mentre ascolto Neil Sedaka
che non conosce viaggi romantici
e compra biglietti di sola andata per il blues.
Lo ammiro perché serve coraggio
a salire sul primo treno e sparire
nelle curve di una storia on the road,
negli sbuffi della locomotiva a vapore.
Se non è coraggio è disperazione.
E io quasi quasi parto con lui…
Lo raggiungerò all’hotel del tormento
dove ci sono stanze acquitrinose
di lacrime versate da solitari turisti
che latitano dalla galassia sociale.
Spegnerò tutto tranne la musica
e mi vestirò con i pastelli della notte
e con la voce di Neil Sedaka
che parla il linguaggio di chi parte.
E io quasi quasi parto con lui
per imparare la danza d’equilibrio
sui binari di un treno negli anni ’50.

 One Way Ticket

Some people buy lucky tickets
to reach the Moon
and go back more in love.
Crouched down in a tent,
I’m a dark hank of thoughts
while listening to Neil Sedaka
who don’t know romantic trips
and buys one way tickets to the blues.
I admire him, ‘cause courage is needed
to catch the first train and disappear
through the bends of an on the road story,
through the huff of the steam engine.
If it’s not courage it’s desperation.
And I’m almost leaving with him…
I’ll reach him to the heartbreak hotel
where there are marshy rooms
soaked by the tears of lonely tourists
who stay away from the social galaxy.
I’ll turn everything off except the music
and I’ll wear night’s pastels
and Neil Sedaka’s voice
that speaks the tongue of those who leave.
And I’m almost leaving with him
to learn the balance dance
on the tracks of a train in the ’50s.
